Pop-up Art Show at Microsoft 2011

Pop-up Art Show: Silicon Valley Australia Week 2011 Innovation Evening Event

In 2011, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) invited me to create a pop-up art show celebrating Australian innovation in science and technology and the strong relationship between Australia and the U.S. for the G’Day USA Australian Week program in Silicon Valley. The event was a collaboration between the Australian Government (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Tourism Australia, and Austrade), Qantas Airways, state governments, and the arts community.

The pop-up art show featured a digital art series showcasing iconic Australian animals, including the koala, kangaroo, and emu. These animals were depicted interacting with Australian inventions like WiFi, set against backdrops of iconic landscapes such as Uluru. I created large, collectible art pieces and custom ‘Take One Home’ wall art badges for attendees, each displaying Austrade’s contact details to encourage ongoing conversations. By the end of the event, the walls were empty, and the artwork was distributed among hundreds of attendees.

The artworks were printed with HP fine art printers and were showcased at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus as part of the G’Day USA Australian Week program.
